Infrastructure Company revitalizes Wi-Fi network at one of the largest airports in Brazil

, Oct 3, 2014

Scenario

After winning over the administration of one of the largest airports in Brazil, a Brazilianinfrastructure and services company noticed failures in the Internet access and noticed the network infrastructure was outdated, not being able to meet user demand and, consequently, suffering from connection breaks. Thinking of expanding and improving the airport network, the company asked PromonLogicalis for a proposal to implement a new wireless environment covering the entire passengers’ area.

Solution

Through a consultative approach, PromonLogicalis proposed providing Cisco Wi-Fi equipment, aiming to revitalize the wireless network environment for the airport users. For that, an analysis and definition of switches, WLAN, graphic management, perimeter security and content filter to be used was made. PromonLogicalis was also responsible for implementing the Wi-Fi Value Added Services (W-VAS) software, which besides being a traditional authentication portal, also allows wireless environment monetization leveraging functions such as marketing campaign based on user profile, creating promotional SSID, sponsored Wi-Fi and more. The portal allows the airport to communicate directly with Wi-Fi network users and allows the access to online reports on network usage. The solution, virtualized on Cisco server UCS220, can be expanded with the addition of new modules.

Benefits

The new wireless network environment facilitates the registering of new users, allows login integrated to social network sites and storing user access logs, as well as the integration with main credit card operators, making it possible to improve the user experience. Besides, the airport receives online reports with relevant information for the continuous development of the services offered.
